HTC will present this NY Premiere by the renowned playwright Michael Weller (Moonchildren, Loose Ends, Ghost on Fire, The Heart of Art, Spoils of War, Lake No Bottom, Hair—screenplay, Ragtime—screenplay, and many others). Mr. Weller weaves together an intense portrayal of a law firm torn between its commitment to pro-bono policy and the money-wielding, powerful tycoon who opposes the issues they represent. It's a thrilling, thought-provoking, time-sensitive tale which is sure to grasp and entertain a variety of audiences.
This beautifully written American Premiere is brought directly from the London stage. Ms. Rosenthal has penned a modern Pygmalion, as the audience witnesses the metamorphosis of a middle-aged, unemployed spinster who discovers herself after accepting a position as a nude model for an art class. This play warms the heart and tickles the soul.
In the struggle for harmony between Jewish and African American cultures, this New York Premiere is both an intimate family story and sweeping exploration of race and unity in our world. A brother, a sister, a best friend, and a death. The story of Ethan Goodman, fledgling editor of Repair ("The Journal for Urban Healing"), an over-weaning, overly -responsible older brother, compelled to unravel the truth about any number of myths he grew up with. In the process, he wreaks a little havoc in our post-Crown Heights Manhattan, hurting those he loves the most.
Each year, HTC showcases its talented membership in this
festival of short plays. This season, the plays will be original
short plays shining the spotlight on Hypothetical actors,
playwrights and directors.
