ELLIS ISLAND STORIES

Ellis Island Stories was a favorite at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum for eight years. Based on oral histories of immigrants who actually passed through Ellis Island between 1892 and 1924, this show is now available to come to YOU.

Three immigrant characters of various nationalities and an inspector tell the stories of their journeys across the sea, processing on Ellis Island, and their new lives in America.

The play is approximately 30 minutes long and can be performed several times in a morning, afternoon or evening to accommodate any number of audience members.

A 20-minute historical or theatrical program accompanies this play. This historical program provides a question/answer period and factual information about immigration through Ellis Island from 1892-1954. The theatrical program allows the audience to become playwrights, directors and actors as they tell their own personal stories along with the ensemble.

VOICES FROM THE PAST

Join famous historical figures such as Emma Goldman, Irving Berlin, the Captain of the Titanic, Annie Moore, Marcus Garvey, and many others as they tell the story of meek beginnings and their journeys to human triumph in the land of opportunity.

The program is custom-made for the classroom and lesson plans you wish to teach. Each one-person show lasts approximately 20 minutes. Invite as many of these great figures of the American past as you desire for your program.

THE THEATRE WORKSHOP

A favorite package. Create your own show through the use of personal stories of your group. Work with a professional ensemble of theatre artists, as your group members become playwrights, directors, and actors of the best kind. Experience the process of theatrical creation as it relates to dramatic and comic stories made from your own experiences. A fun and eye-opening event.
